Off to the best one of the best starts in school history, Tarleton State will take its current four-game winning streak to Canyon this weekend for a tournament of in-region foes at the WT Woodward Invitational.
THE INVITATIONAL
The West Texas A&M Woodward Invitational consists of 12 teams from across the Lone Star Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for a three-day event stretched over two facilities in Canyon. THE OPPONENTS: FRIDAY
All six of Tarleton's games this weekend will be against teams from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, beginning with the first-ever meeting against Chadron State (0-6) Friday at 11:30 a.m. The second game puts Tarleton against Colorado Mesa, against whom Tarleton owns a 4-0 all-time record against dating back to 2000.
THE OPPONENTS: SATURDAY
Tarleton will open play Saturday at 11:30 a.m. against Metro State in a rematch of last season's first meeting between the TexAnns and Roadrunners that ended in a 2-7 loss for Tarleton at the WT Tournament. The Purple and White will wrap up the second day with a contest against Colorado Mines, against whom Tarleton defeated twice in 2012 for a 2-0 all-time lead in the series.
THE OPPONENTS: SUNDAY
Tarleton will wrap up the tournament with back-to-back games Sunday afternoon, beginning with Colorado State-Pueblo at 10:30 a.m. The TexAnns and Thunderwolves have met two times before – once in 2006 and once last year – with Tarleton winning both games by a combined score of 15-8.
