THE GAMES
After bad weather has wrecked havoc on the TexAnn Softball schedule over the last two weeks, Tarleton State will try get back to its routine Wednesday afternoon with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Texas A&M International.
THE OPPONENT
Texas A&M International had their five-game winning streak snapped with a 3-2 loss to Texas-Permian Basin last Saturday afternoon to bring the Dustdevils' overall record to 12-12. Three players with a sub-3.00 ERA, including Brandi Giles with a 3-1 record and a 0.72 ERA, lead the Dustdevil pitching staff while the offense has a trio of .300 hitters topped by the .333 average of Brittany Mussett.
THE SERIES
Tarleton State and Texas A&M International have met 12 times, including once this season, since the inaugural meeting in 2008. The TexAnns hold a 7-5 lead in the all-time series even after dropping a 3-0 game to the Dustdevils in San Antonio last month.
LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton State got two games in Sunday afternoon before the weather cancelled the final day of the series against Texas Woman's Monday. The TexAnns dropped the first game on a walk-off grand slam in the 10
th inning before the second game of Sunday's twin bill ended early at 10-2.
TAKIN' THREE
Tarleton State enters Wednesday's outing as the Lone Star Conference in triples this season, having slugged 12 three-baggers including a team-high five from the school's all-time triples leader,
Melody Mayse.
PLAYING IN LAREDO
This is Tarleton's second-ever trip to Laredo after making the journey for two games on Valentine's Day 2011 when they split a twin bill with the Dustdevils.
WELCOME BACK, BRENNA
Brenna Hennan, the lone senior on the TexAnns' roster, made her return to the diamond last Sunday against Texas Woman's with 3.1 innings of work over which she allowed no earned runs.
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The TexAnns will stay off the Lone Star Conference schedule for their next opponent as they welcome Texas-Permian Basin into town for a Saturday afternoon doubleheader at 1 p.m.
