THE GAMES
After taking three of four against Midwestern State in Stephenville last weekend, the TexAnns will take the diamond against No. 6 Angelo State in San Angelo beginning Friday at 5 p.m. The teams will play doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.

THE OPPONENT
Angelo State enters this weekend as the No. 6 ranked team in the nation with a record of 22-5-1, including a 7-4-1 mark in Lone Star Conference action. The Rambelles have run into a tough stretch of late, posting a 2-3-1 record against No. 1 West Texas A&M and Texas Woman's over the last two weekends including a 21-0 loss to the Lady Buffs in San Angelo on March 13. The Rambelles have 10 players on their roster hitting over .300, led by Ciara Sheppard's .400 batting average. Angelo State boasts the top ERA in the Lone Star Conference at 1.92, led by Brandy Marlett with a 12-2 record and a 0.98 ERA.

THE SERIES
When the series begins Friday night, the TexAnns and Rambelles will be playing their 50th game against each other since the series started in 2002. Tarleton State has won 13 games against Angelo State with the last win coming in last year's series opener with a 7-6 win in Stephenville.

LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton State took three of four games over Midwestern State in Stephenville last weekend, marking the first time since 2007 that Tarleton has won a series against the Mustangs as well as the first time since then the TexAnns have swept a doubleheader against Midwestern State. The series was capped off with a heroic swing of the bat when Katelyn Conlee blasted off to deep right center with an extra-inning, walk-off home run in the bottom of the eight.

TRIPLE THREAT
Melody Mayse is currently the runaway triples leader in the Lone Star Conference this season. The junior outfielder has six triples, which is double the second-most in the conference. For her career, Mayse now has 20 career triples as she continues to distance herself as the all-time leader in TexAnn history for three-baggers. She is four triples away from the single-season record, which is currently nine held by Kelli Gayle in 2007.

FREYMAN IN THE CIRCLE
Freshman right-hander Haley Freyman has made herself known to the Lone Star Conference by stepping into the limelight right away. She currently leads the league in wins with 13, which is also two wins shy of tying Caryn Holbrook and Lauren Zearfoss (15) for ninth on the all-time single-season wins list in school history. Freyman is also the LSC leader in innings pitched with 108.0 and is No. 7 in the conference in ERA at 2.85.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton State will return home next weekend for the start of a six-game home stand, beginning with a four-game series against Texas A&M-Commerce in the first-ever meeting between the TexAnns and the Lions, who are in their inaugural season of softball.
