After over two weeks of waiting, Tarleton State will take the field Sunday evening to officially begin the Lone Star Conference schedule for the first of four games against Texas Woman's in Denton.

THE BREAKDOWN
Tarleton State will start the series Sunday at 5 p.m. for the first game of a doubleheader and is expected to wrap up the series, weather permitting, with another twin bill Monday afternoon beginning at 4 p.m.

THE OPPONENT
Texas Woman's enters the series with a record of 8-10, but is 1-0 in its only home game of the year – an 8-3 win over Southwestern Oklahoma in its last outing on March 3. Led by a team batting average of .337, the Pioneers boast a trio of .400 hitters and five more with .300 averages while the pitching staff is working with a league-low 5.05 ERA.

THE SERIES
The series opener will mark the 70
th all-time meeting between Tarleton and Texas Woman's, dating back to the inaugural meeting in 1997. The TexAnns hold the lead in the series 43-26, including a record of 23-13 in Denton.

TARLETON'S NEW TRIPLES LEADER
With four triples thus far,
Melody Mayse is now Tarleton's all-time career leader in three-baggers. The speedster from Grandview had seven in each of her first two seasons and has four so far this season for a total of 18. She passed Jennifer Maupin (1996-99), who has held the all-time lead since 1999 with 16 triples.

OTHER CAREER MARKS FOR MAYSE
In addition to taking the triples lead in the Tarleton record books, the junior outfielder is also tied for 10
th all-time with 86 runs score – joining Asheley Walker, who played from 1997-2000. Mayse has also passed Amanda Smith for 10
th all-time in total bases (210) and is tied with Staci Greear for sixth place in Tarleton history with 41 stolen bases.
