Mother Nature puts a halt on TexAnn Softball plans

STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton State was supposed to play softball Wednesday afternoon, but the weather around Stephenville had different ideas.

Tarleton's bad-weather protocol system, which detects static electricity in the area to protect from lightning strikes, went into red-alert for the first time 10 minutes before the first pitch – forcing both teams off the field for at least a 30-minute delay.

The delay lasted roughly 45 minutes before the teams took the field for a brief warmup and began the game at 2 p.m. and lasted two batters into the bottom of the first before another red-alert sent the teams into shelter for a second time.

After another hour-long delay, an agreement was made to cancel the twin bill.

Tarleton State will head to Oklahoma this weekend in its return to Lone Star Conference action for a four-game series against Cameron.
