STEPHENVILLE – TexAnn Volleyball was defeated by No. 8 Angelo State 3-0 (23-25, 22-25, 24-26) for its first loss of Lone Star Conference play on Tuesday in the Wisdom Volleyball Gym.

Tarleton (9-2, 2-1) entered the match on a 17-game conference winning streak, which is the longest run in school history.

Coming into today's match, the two teams have split the last six matches. Despite Angelo State winning in three sets, the match was close throughout. In the first set, Tarleton and Angelo State split the first ten points with Hailey Roberts pouring in three kills during the stretch. Tarleton built its biggest lead of the set at 15-12 on Jordyn Keamo's kill and a pair of Rambelle attack errors. After the score was tied at 20-20, Angelo State took its first two-point lead of the set at 22-20 and would go on to take the set at 25-23. The set featured 18 ties and nine lead changes.

The same trend continued in the second set as both teams were tied through the first 20 points as Tarleotn got kills from Roberts, Alissa Johnson, Autumn Taylor, Jordyn Keamo, and Hannah McManus. Angelo State took a 12-11 lead and never trailed again in the set. Tarleton would cut it to a 1-point game at 22-21 on Adrianna Knutson's service ace but the Rambelle's scored three of the last four points to win 25-22 and take a 2-0 lead.

Angelo State jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in the third set but the TexAnns fought back with a 5-1 run on a pair of kills from Taylor as well as one from McManus and Roberts to tie the score at 10-10 for the third straight set. Roberts' kill gave the TexAnns their first lead of the set at 13-12, and the teams would swap point for point until the score was tied at 20-20. Trailing 24-22, Roberts delivered her last of her game-high 17 kills to give the serve back to the TexAnns in which they would later even the set at 24-24 but Angelo State scored the final two points to win the match. The match featured 37 ties and 14 lead changes.

Offensively, McManus had nine kills and a .471 hitting percentage. Taylor posted six kills, her highest total in LSC play. Keamo had 30 assists to lead the TexAnns, her 10th straight game of at least 30 assists. Keamo also recorded 10 digs for the double-double. Roberts matched Keamo with 10 digs for her ninth double-double of the season. Knutson led the TexAnns in digs with 14.
