TexAnns close out regular season with sweep of Greyhounds, turn attention to LSC Tournament

STEPHENVILLE – The most decorated senior class in TexAnn Volleyball history closed out their final regular season game with a sweep of Eastern New Mexico (25-9, 25-12, 25-14) and will now turn their attention to the postseason, which begins Thursday in Stephenville.

Saturday was 'Senior Day' for Hailey Roberts, Chandler Gow, and Jordyn Keamo. Those three seniors have over 50 wins in the past two seasons while Gow and Roberts have accounted for over 100 victories in four years. Over the last four seasons, Tarleton has three Lone Star Conference titles, including the first two regular season championships, and have qualified for the NCAA postseason in every year.

Tarleton bookended the opening set with big runs, including a 6-1 surge over the first seven points and a 10-0 run to close things out. Over the final 10-0 run, Tarleton got two kills each from Amber Strange and Roberts and two aces from Adrianna Knutson.

The TexAnns didn't let up in the second set as the Tarleton defense allowed Eastern New Mexico to score consecutive points only twice during the set. Hailey Roberts landed the final point of the set to put Tarleton up 2-0 in the match.

In the third set, Tarleton rode an early 5-1 lead to a 25-14 victory. The Greyhounds pulled as close as one, but Tarleton answered with a 14-6 surge to go ahead 19-10. Tarleton scored six of the final 10 points to seal the deal.

Roberts led the way with 13 kills, which brings her 86 shy of the Lone Star Conference all-time record. Hannah McManus (7) and Amber Strange (6) combined for 13 more kills from the middle spot. Keamo led the team to a .247 hitting percentage with 26 assists while Knutson led the defensive effort with 14 digs. Blanca Izquierdo added 12 digs of her own.

Tarleton will host the Lone Star Conference championship tournament, which will begin Thursday in Wisdom Gym. Stay tuned to TarletonSports.com for more information.
