THE GAMES
Tarleton Softball heads to Eastern New Mexico this weekend for a three-game series with the Greyhounds beginning with a doubleheader Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. The TexAnns will wrap up their series with the Greyhounds with a 1 p.m. solo game Saturday afternoon.
 
ABOUT THE TEXANNS
Tarleton comes into the series with a record of 9-7 overall and a 1-2 mark in Lone Star Conference action. The TexAnns opened up Lone Star Conference action with a win in three games against Texas A&M-Commerce in Stephenville last weekend and most recently split a road doubleheader with Texas A&M International. This will also snap a run of five straight games against an opponent with Texas A&M in the name. Maddie Quintanar comes into the series leading Tarleton with a .491 hitting clip while Haley Freyman boasts a 1.92 ERA from the circle in 58.1 innings of work.
 
ABOUT THE GREYHOUNDS
Eastern New Mexico is off to an 8-11 record under second-year head coach and former Tarleton All-American Katie Welborn. The Greyhounds come into the series having won five of their last seven games, including sweeps of New Mexico Highlands and Western New Mexico. Eastern New Mexico is led at the dish by Erikka Burke with a .389 batting average and seven home runs while Kaylee Rogers boasts a 3.25 ERA in 56.0 innings of work in the pitching circle.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
Tarleton and Eastern New Mexico have written 75 chapters of their series history since the rivalry began in 1997. The TexAnns boast a 61-14 record all-time against the Greyhounds, including a 23-10 mark in 33 career games in Portales.
 
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will come home for a seven-game home stand, beginning Tuesday afternoon with a 4 p.m. doubleheader against No. 3 St. Mary's.
