THE GAMES
After being named the No. 7 team in the region in the debut poll Wednesday, Tarleton's playoff push officially begins this weekend as the TexAnns host Midwestern State for a three-game series in Stephenville beginning Friday at 7 p.m.
 
SENIOR WEEKEND
Tarleton will recognize its four seniors this weekend – Savannah Stech, Avery Mullendore, Mikayla Stogsdill, and Alyssa Ringhausen – as they play their final home games in Stephenville. There will be a senior presentation ceremony following Saturday's doubleheader. There will be a free hot dog cookout Friday at 6:30 p.m.
 
POSTSEASON PUSH
Tarleton debuted in the NCAA regional poll at No. 7 when the first ranking of the season was announced Wednesday. The TexAnns are also looking to secure a berth in the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament. Tarleton holds a 1.0 game lead over Texas A&M-Kingsville for the final spot in the tournament field and trail Texas A&M-Commerce by 1.0 game for the No. 5 seed.
 
ABOUT THE TEXANNS
Tarleton is fresh off its 30th win of the season, marking the first 30-win campaign for first-year head coach Mark Cumpian. The TexAnns come into the weekend boasting a .321 team batting average, led by Nyka Wood at .403. The Tarleton pitching staff enters the weekend with a team ERA of 2.70.
 
ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
Midwestern State comes into the weekend with an 18-25 record under first-year head coach Mark Ryal. The Mustangs are also 9-18 in LSC action this season. Erin Knox leads the way at the plate with a .347 average, which tops the team average of .265. Knox is also the team leader in ERA with a 3.69 mark.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
Tarleton and Midwestern State have met 34 times since Midwestern State started its program in 2004. The TexAnns trail the all-time series 10-24, including 3-4 in seven all-time games in Stephenville. The TexAnns took two of three from Midwestern State in its last home stand of the series in 2015.
 
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The TexAnns will wrap up the regular season with a road trip to Odessa next weekend for three games at UT Permian Basin.
