THE GAMES
Tarleton softball looks to clinch a postseason spot in the Lone Star Conference tournament as the TexAnns close out the regular season on the road at UT Permian Basin. The TexAnns need to win two of the three games against the Falcons to secure one of the six LSC tournament spots. The series begins on Thursday, April 28 at 5 p.m., followed by a Saturday doubleheader at 1 p.m.
 
POSTSEASON PUSH
Tarleton is fifth in the LSC standings with a 15-12 record. The TexAnns are 2.5 games behind Texas Woman's for the fourth spot and are a game up on Texas A&M-Commerce for sixth. The TexAnns remain seventh in the NCAA regional poll entering the final series of the regular season.
 
ABOUT THE TEXANNS
Tarleton is 32-19 on the season under first-year head coach Mark Cumpian. The TexAnns finished the season 14-7 at home and are 11-9 on the road (7-3 on neutral sites). The TexAnns are hitting .317 as a team, led by Nyka Wood's .396 average. As a pitching the staff, Tarleton has a 2.60 ERA, led by Haley Freyman's 2.48 ERA.
 
ABOUT THE FALCONS
UT Permian Basin is 9-42 overall and 5-22 in the Lone Star Conference. The Falcons have lost five straight and are 1-17 at home this season. UTPB is hitting .246 on the year, with Cindy Juarez leading all hitters with a .333 average. UTPB has a team ERA of 8.69.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
Tarleton is 11-0 all-time against UTPB since the teams first met in 2010. The TexAnns are 4-0 on the road against the Falcons.
