DALLAS – No. 14 Tarleton got back in the win column with a road sweep of Dallas Baptist and will now turn its attention to tomorrow's Lone Star Conference opener at Texas Woman's.
The Patriots came out swinging as Dallas Baptist built an 8-2 lead over the first 10 points, but
Hailey Roberts landed a kill that turned the tide for Tarleton. The Roberts kill started a 19-13 Tarleton run to even the opening set at 21-21. The teams traded errors to keep the set even at 22-22 before Roberts delivered the win with the final three kills.
Once again, Dallas Baptist jumped out to a lead as the Patriots led 15-12 over the opening 27 points.
Adriana Darthuy landed a kill shot for Tarleton's 13
th point and started a 12-2 Tarleton run over the remainder of the set for a 25-17 victory in set two.
Tarleton wasted no time in the final set, jumping out to a 7-1 lead then extending it to 15-9. The Patriots edged out Tarleton 11-10 over the next 21 points, but the TexAnns' early-set work was enough to secure the sweep.
Roberts led the way with 20 kills while adding 12 digs. Meanwhile, four different TexAnns boasted seven kills – Darthuy,
Amber Strange,
Jordyn Keamo, and
Chandler Gow. Keamo (28) and
Blanca Izquierdo (13) combined for 41 assists.
Adrianna Knutson led the team with 14 digs while Darthuy also had double-digit digs (13).
Tarleton will return to action tomorrow night at Texas Woman's at 7 p.m. in Denton.
