LAS CRUCES, N.M. –
Alicia Barbaroux knocked off Division I New Mexico State's top competitor in the No. 1 singles match to deliver the lone victory of the afternoon for the shorthanded TexAnns.
"Only having four available players and limited court time this week (due to weather) made for quite the challenge for our girls, but they accepted the challenge and played with great effort," said head coach
Lance Drake. "After a rough start in doubles, Alicia played solid singles at No. 1 and earned a quality win. I'm very proud of the way our team battled and carried themselves on the court. I'd also like to give credit to our graduate assistant
Elianne Douglas-Miron, who continues to do great work with our team."
Tarleton did get a doubles win in the No. 2 line with
Neetika Sud and
Shelby Fillingame taking the win over Vanessa Valdez and Eli Arnaudova 6-4, however a Nmew Mexico State win the No. 1 match and a win by default in the No. 3 match delivered the doubles point to the Aggies. In Division I rules, the team that wins at least two of three doubles matches is credited with a single point.
In singles play, the Aggies claimed wins in the No. 2, 3 and 4 matches – as well as default wins at No. 5 and 6 – but
