A LOOK AT LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton completed a four-game sweep of Western New Mexico in Stephenville to cap off seven wins in five days, push their winning streak to 12, and secure its second straight 30-win season.
TEXANNS IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
the TexAnns have moved up five spots in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association to No. 20 in the latest rankings. It's the second straight week for Tarleton in the poll after debuting at No. 25 last week. Tarleton is one of only four 30-win teams in the NFCA rankings. The other three 30-win teams occupy the top three spots – Colorado Mesa (1), North Georgia (2), and Chico State (3).
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
For the third time this year,
Jordan Withrow has been named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week while
Tanna Huie was tabbed as one of two NCAA Division II Players of the Week by FastpitchNews.com. Withrow was marvelous in the pitching circle once again as the sophomore went 3-0 in four starts while holding opposing hitters to a mere .145 batting average for the week and boasting a 1.68 ERA with 26 strikeouts. Huie hit .500 with 10 hits, including five for extra bases, to go along with seven runs scored and seven RBI. She also didn't strikeout a single time over the last seven games.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Tarleton and Angelo State have met 56 times since the Rambelles' program was born in 2002. Angelo State leads the all-time series 39-17, including 18-7 in San Angelo. Tarleton has found recent success in the series, however, by winning four of the last five since 2016.
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will return home for a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader against Texas A&M International at 2 p.m.
