STEPHENVILLE – St. Edward's spoiled the home opener for No. 23 Tarleton Tennis as the Hilltoppers upended the TexAnns 4-3 in Stephenville Thursday afternoon.
Tarleton went into singles play behind the eight-ball after dropping the doubles point.
Shelby Fillingame and
Nathalie Ulander handled the No. 3 match 6-3 and, after a loss in the No. 2 set, the point came down to the result of the top-seeded matchup that Tarleton dropped 6-4.
In singles action,
Alicia Barbaroux got Tarleton off on the right foot with a 6-0, 6-4 win.
Sherine Salem and
Shelby Fillingame earned points in the No. 3 and 6 matches, respectively, but Tarleton couldn't secure that final point to earn the win – despite forcing three sets in the No. 2 and 4 matches.
