LUBBOCK – Tarleton outhit Lubbock Christian in Sunday's tournament finale, but the host team managed to push a couple across the plate and the Texans fell 2-0.
Jordan Withrow's quest to become Tarleton's all-time winningest pitcher will have to wait a little longer despite a masterful performance from the pitching circle Sunday afternoon. The Texan right-hander had a two-run hiccup in the fourth inning but was otherwise untouchable.
Withrow pitched six innings and allowed four hits while striking out four.
Tarleton's offense got two-hit performances from
Georgia Capell,
Morgan Medford and
Jessica Lee while
Destiny Crumpley accounted for one of her own. However, the Texans were unable to push any runs across. The Texans stranded two runners in two innings and left them loaded in the third.
Tarleton, who finished the tournament portion of the schedule with a 14-3 record, will now turn its attention to Lone Star Conference play. The Texans will head to Odessa and Silver City on Friday and Sunday this week to face off with UT Permian Basin and Western New Mexico.
