GEORGETOWN – Tarleton made a quick trip down to Georgetown and wasted no time in blasting the host Pirates by the score of 7-2.
Southwestern University, a traditional powerhouse at the Division III level, plays under the nine-point rule – counting all three doubles points – and all three of those points went in Tarleton's favor Saturday.
The Texans won all three doubles points with scores of 8-2 or better across the board.
In singles play,
Martha Makantasi and
Jemi Aguilar continued their WAC-best winning streaks. Makantasi improved to a conference-best 7-1 on the season while Aguilar remains only behind her Tarleton teammate with a 6-3 record after their wins.
Mihaela Codreanu (6-2, 6-1) and
Celia Vaudiau (6-1, 6-3) also earned victories for Tarleton in the No. 1 and 5 flights, respectively.
