Tarleton Soccer’s Mila Bettinelli earns Freshman All-WAC honors

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton Soccer's leading goal scorer has earned postseason honors as the Texans' inaugural season has come to a close.

Mila Bettinelli has etched her name in the record books, becoming Tarleton Soccer's first postseason award recipient in program history. On Tuesday, the Western Athletic Conference released its postseason player and team awards for the 2022 season. Bettinelli was one of 12 players selected to the Freshman All-WAC Team.

The Sebastopol, California, native was the Texans' leading goal scorer, putting eight in the back of the net over the course of Tarleton's inaugural season. She also tacked on one assist.

"I'm incredibly proud of Mila," said head coach Pete Cuadrado. "Coming in as a freshman and scoring eight goals is impressive and deserves to be celebrated. I'm excited to see her continue to grow and help our program in big ways offensively."

In WAC standings, Bettinelli's efficiency at forward resulted in a final ranking of fifth in goals per game, averaging .50 goals. She also finished the season ranked sixth in total goals scored. She scored a career-high two goals in Tarleton's 4-1 road victory over Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 27.
