LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Tarleton volleyball team dropped a 3-0 contest (16-25, 16-25, 19-25) to New Mexico State on Thursday evening at the Pan American Center.

Tarleton (12-16, 4-9 WAC) was led by Grayson Schirpik who totaled 10 kills followed by Breanna McDonough who landed nine kills on .444 hitting, but NM State (14-11, 6-7 WAC) was able to hold the Texans to just .125 hitting to secure the win.

Sets one and two saw Tarleton fall by the same score of 25-16. The Texans jumped out to a fast 3-0 lead in the first set as Schirpik landed a pair of kills and Ailie Hair fired in an ace to add to her team lead. The teams battled it out to a 9-9 draw, but NM State immediately tore off a 5-0 run and never allowed the Texans back in the set.

Tarleton got down 5-0 in set two and were never able to recover, with the closest they cut the Aggies lead to being four points at 6-2.

The Texans were able to throw a scare into the Aggies in set three as they ripped off a 5-0 run down 22-13 to bring it within four at 22-18. NM State responded by scoring three of the next four, with two kills from Katie Birtcil to take the set 25-19 and the match 3-0. The Aggies were led by Molly Johnson's 16 kills on 32 attacks.

Tarleton will trek to Edinburg to take on UTRGV Saturday in their final match this season. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. with streaming on ESPN+.
