NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Tarleton's perseverance was on full display as the Texans attempted to overcome a five-run, first-inning deficit before ultimately falling to SFA in the series finale 7-6.

The Ladyjacks came out swinging to the tune of a five-run first inning and the 5-0 lead carried through the first four innings.

Tarleton struck for an RBI from
Georgia Capell in the fifth, to which SFA responded with one in their half to bring the score to 6-1. The Texans punched right back in the sixth with an RBI double from
Makayla Romeo and an RBI single from
Morgan Medford to cut the deficit in half at 6-3.

After another SFA run extended the game to 7-3, Tarleton got a two-run home run from
Miranda Pruitt and an RBI single from Amanda DeSario to claw back within one. However, Tarleton squandered a bases-loaded, one-out situation with a strikeout and grounder to end the rally.

Medford sparked the offense with a three-hit day while
Tristyn Trull had two base hits on her ledger. DeSario, Capell,
Paige Nunes, Pruitt, Romeo, and
Hallie Saintignan had one hit each to round out the offense.

After
Tristan Bridges was chased from the game seven batters in,
Julia Wernet gave the Texans great relief from the pen. She pitched the final 5.2 innings and allowed just two runs while striking out four.

Tarleton will play North Texas in a single game Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in Denton before returning home for the final five games of the season.
