STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton has added their fifth newest member to the 2022-23 roster, bringing in one of the top young players from Sweden, Emma Persson.
 
Persson is ranked sixth in Sweden's national U18 rankings, most recently attending Akademi Båstad in her hometown of Båstad, Sweden.
 
"A technically sound player, Emma has a lot of weapons on the court," head coach Elianne Douglas-Miron said. "She understands the court very well and is extremely athletic. It's been a pleasure getting to know Emma through the recruiting process, she is very serious about her tennis and has a clear vision of what her goals are on and off the court. She will be a huge asset for the purple and the white."
 
Persson played for team Lidkoping in the highest division of her home country.
 
One of her recent top tournaments came at the J4 Kramfors, where she won all three qualifying matches in straight sets and advanced to the main draw's quarterfinals. That included a first round win over the International Tennis Federation's No. 443 ranked junior player.
 
Persson boasts a Universal Tennis Rating of 9.04 in singles, the top score among Tarleton's incoming freshmen.
 
Tarleton announced the additions of freshmen Elif Albayrak, Ximena Morales, Laure Razet and Clara Sobius earlier this month.
