STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton moved its home record to 6-0 this season with a four set win over Prairie View A&M on Saturday evening at Wisdom Gym.

The Texans (6-1) seemed poised to sweep the Panthers (0-7) after commanding the first two sets, but the Panthers stormed back to take set three and quiet Wisdom Gym.

Grayson Schirpik was all over the court for Tarleton, finishing with a match-high 16 kills and added five digs, four service aces and three assists.
Breanna McDonough and
Ailie Hair each posted 10 kills, with Hair leading the Texans with a .562 hitting percentage and four blocks.Â
Megan Hodges added 27 assists and
Ana Costas dug up 13 Panther attacks.

Each set was won by nine plus points. Tarleton began the match with an 8-0 run, highlighted by six kills and two service aces. The Panthers were never able to crawl their way back into the match, trailing by double-digits most of the way. The Texans hit a match-high .467. in the first set, landing 16 kills.

Set two was a bit closer, with PVAMU cutting the Texan lead to 13-12 at one point. Tarleton pulled away towards the end with a 6-0 run to close it out.

The Panthers came out ready for set three, jumping out to a 13-6 lead. The closest the Texans cut it to was 15-13 after back-to-back kills from Hair and Schirpik, but the Panthers kept their foot on the gas.

Tarleton answered their lone setback of the match with a statement 11-point win in set four. Their defense shone as PVAMU hit -0.034, landing just six attacks on 29 attempts.

The Texans will return to Wisdom Gym on Tuesday for a match with UIW at 7 p.m. It can be streamed on ESPN+ and will be the last home match for the Texans until they return to take on UTRGV on Saturday, Sept. 24.
