ABILENE, Texas - Tarleton State shined bright at the Wildcat Invitational with multiple student-athletes leaving the weekend in the win column.
Singles
The Texans had success after success on the singles side of action. The Purple and White combined for 14 wins on the weekend earning them a 14-6 singles record at the Wildcat Invitational.
Tarleton State had four student-athletes leave with a perfect singles record from the tournament.
Clara Sobius and
Ximena Morales each went 3-0 in singles action.
Sobius earned wins all over UTEP, Texas State and Abilene Christian. She won her match vs UTEP 6-2, 6-4 over Hanna Telzynska. She then won her second match 6-3, 6-4 over Maria Andrea Lora Meza of Texas State. To finish the sweep on the weekend, Sobius played host Abilene Christian winning 7-6(6), 6-3 over Masha Vrsalovic.
Morales also completed the sweep with wins over UTEP, Texas State and Abilene Christian as well. She secured victory No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Elena DiBattista of UTEP. She then secured a 6-1, 7-5 win over Jacqueline Schnable of Texas State. For win No. 3 Morales defeated Eva Arranz Libby Blair of Abilene Christian 6-1, 6-2.
Two other Texans won a pair each over Abilene Christian and Texas State in
Adeliya Mukhutdinova and
Martha Makantasi. Mukhutdinova got her first of two wins with a 6-4, 7-6(2) win over Eva Arranz of Abilene Christian. Her second win came from a 6-1, 6-0 win over Emma Carr of Texas State. Makantasi started off with a win over Mae McCutcheon of Texas State 6-1, 6-4. She earned her second win of the invitational with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Maryjoe Crisologo of Abilene Christian.
Doubles
On the doubles side of things
Noelia Lorca and Sobius earned a 2-0 record.
The pair got started with a win over Jacqueline Schnabel and Maria Andrea Lora Meza of Texas State 6-4. Their second win came over the host Abilene Christian. The two Texans took down Andrea Guerrero and Masha Vrsalovic 6-4.
