Box Score 2 FORT COLLINS, Colo. – With just one loss to spare on Friday in the National Invitational Softball Championship double-elimination tournament, the Texans pounded UC Davis in the morning to keep their season alive for another game. In the afternoon bill, South Dakota State proved too much for the second time in as many days, ending Tarleton's run at the NISC in Fort Collins, Colorado.

The first two innings saw little action as there was zeros across the board. The Aggies struck first in the bottom of the third.
In the top of the fourth, the Texans got on the board on a solo shot by
Jordan Dickerson, her third straight game with a home run. In the top of the sixth the Texans took the lead with a three-spot.
Tristyn Trull and Dickerson both reached on a walk, then
Morgan Medford followed with a double to center to score the two.
MacKenzie Peterson made it 4-1 with an RBI single to score Medford.
After UC Davis got one back in the bottom of the sixth, Texans busted the doors off in the top of the seventh, scoring six runs on six hits.
Kelci Hill got it started with a single to left, then
Kayla Wallace launched one over the center field wall scoring two to put the Texans up 6-2. Trull and
Katy Schaefer kept the rally going with singles, and after Dickerson walked to load the bases, Medford singled up the middle to score two.
Brittany Coe capped off the inning with a two RBI double to left center, making it 10-2 Texans, leading to a 10-4 victory.
The Texan offense was led by Hill and Medford, both collecting three hits each. Seven other Texans each collected one hit in the game.
Grace Garcia and
Tristan Bridges combined for four strikeouts, walking three in the game.
South Dakota State 11, Tarleton 1 (5)
The Texans late inning offensive power in the first game failed to carry over to the second game on the day.
Following a scoreless first inning, the Jackrabbits tacked on eight runs in the second to put Tarleton's season on the brink. In the bottom of the second, Schaefer scored the Texans' lone run on a solo shot just inside the left field foul pole.
Through the next three innings, the Jackrabbits added on three more runs to run-rule the purple and white.
The Texans finished their season 31-29, posting a 30-plus win season for the second year in a row. The Texans just completed their third year of the reclassification to NCAA Division I.
