Tarleton State Volleyball drops road match against UTA

ARLINGTON, Texas – Tarleton State fell to the UT Arlington Mavericks at the College Park Center, losing 0-3 (19-25, 15-25, 20-25). This was the only match of Tarleton's short road trip before heading back to Stephenville for two straight home matches.

Following the conclusion of Saturday's match, the Texans (5-12 overall, 0-4 WAC) are still searching for their first conference win of the season. The Mavericks (14-2 overall, 4-0 WAC) lead the conference.

Allison Bryant led the Texans with 12 kills. She was the only Texan to record a double-digit kill total. Bryant also accumulated eight digs, coming two digs shy of what would've been her fourth double-double of the season.

Megan Hodges and Yuna Ansquer both tallied double-digit assists. Hodges led the team with 13 while Ansquer followed closely with 11. With her 13 assists, Hodges continues her streak of 10 or more assists in every match this season.

Tatum Busch led the team in digs with 10. Busch is coming off a career-high 12 digs against Seattle U. This is Busch's second-straight game with a double-digit kill total.

Tarleton came out hot during the first period, starting the set with a 12-9 lead off a run that included an ace from Emma Burke. The Mavericks climbed back to tie the set at 15-15, then proceeded to spark a 10-4 run, taking the first stanza, 19-25.

During the second frame, the Texans once again took an early lead at the 6-3 mark thanks to consecutive kills from Bryant and Burke. UT Arlington rallied to regain momentum of the set, where they won 25-15.

In the final stanza, the Texans found themselves trailing 3-9 early in the third. They were never able to gain control, dropping the third frame 20-25 and losing the match.

Tarleton State Volleyball will return to Stephenville to take on Abilene Christian on Thursday for homecoming week at 6 p.m. CT. Following Thursday's match, the Texans will continue conference play against Utah Valley on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT to wrap up their week at home.
