STEPHENVILLE, Texas - The Purple and White continued their home slate on Saturday, dropping to Grand Canyon in Stephenville, 0-3.

The Texans (7-18 overall, 2-10 WAC), fell to the Lopes (16-8, 9-3) in three sets (21-25, 20-25, 18-25).

Megan Hodges led the team with 36 assists, marking her fifth match this year with 30 or more assists. The junior is coming off a career milestone last week, where she recorded her 2,000th career assist against Abilene Christian.

Allison Bryant notched a team-high 15 kills, followed by Emma Burke with nine. The Texans had two players above a .500 hitting percentage. Burke led the team with a stellar .600 percentage, while Madison Frank registered .500.

Reigning WAC Libero of the Week, Emma Halcomb, led the team with 14 digs. Halcomb has double-digit digs in all but four matches this year.

In the first period, both teams kept it close early, finding themselves tied at 8-8. GCU went on a small run that was derailed by an ace from Hodges to bring the Texans within two points, 9-11. Tarleton pulled ahead at the 15-14 mark thanks to two consecutive kills from Tehana Mo'o. However, the Lopes found a way to rally back, notching the first set victory, 25-21.

Two service aces from the Lopes put GCU up 7-5 early in the second stanza. The Texans kept it close off kills from Bryant and LaNeah Lara but were unable to take a lead to gain advantage of the second set. Tarleton sparked a 6-1 run to bring them within two points, 19-21. Hodges assisted half of the six points during the Texan run, but GCU responded with a 4-1 run to close out the second frame, 25-20.

In the third game, the Lopes opened on a commanding 7-2 run, giving the Texans a tough deficit to recover from. Tarleton orchestrated a 6-2 run that contained four kills from Bryant and two kills from Frank to shorten its deficit to, 14-12. The conference rivals exchanged blows until two service aces from GCU allowed the Lopes to take control of the third and final set. Grand Canyon clinched the match with a 25-18 victory in the third stanza.
