OREM, Utah – Tarleton State (12-17) opened conference play with a pair of losses to Utah Valley (8-13) on Friday afternoon.
The Texans are now 0-5 vs. the Wolverines of Utah Valley. The Texans dropped Game 1, 10-9 in extra innings followed by a 9-4 loss in Game 2.

In a game of who could score more, the Wolverines came out on top in extra innings Friday afternoon. The two teams scored a combined 19 runs on 26 hits. This marked the fourth extra innings game for the Texans this season. The Purple and White hold a 2-2 record with wins over Texas A&M-Commerce and Prairie View A&M.
Tarleton State didn't waste any time getting on the board scoring three runs in the top of the first.
Katy Schaefer doubled to left center scoring
Tristyn Trull who reached base in at-bat before Schaefer with a double of her own to center making it 1-0 Texans.
Austin Germain singled down the left field line scoring two more for the Texans in
Brady Rowland and Schaefer making it 3-0 Tarleton State. Rowland reached base on a walk.
In the bottom of the frame the Wolverines got on the board scoring a pair of runs of their own. Peyton Hall hit a two-run home run to center field making it 3-2 Texans.
Utah Valley scored four runs on five hits in the bottom of the second making it 6-3 Wolverines. UVU collected their runs off a second home run of the game, a double and a single through the left side.
The Texans took the lead back in the top of the fourth with four runs on three hits.

Austin Germain making it 6-4.
Kayla Wallace then hit a long ball to right center putting Tarleton State in front 7-6.
Utah Valley then answered with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the fourth. Hall once again hit a long ball driving in two runs putting the Wolverines back in front 8-7. UVU earned their ninth run off a single from Payge Armendariz that scored Libbie Hawker making it 9-7.
Tarleton State then tacked on one run in the fifth followed by another in the sixth. Germain singled to right field scoring
Bella Hernandez in the fifth putting the Texans down by just a single run 9-8. In the sixth inning Rowland singled to before advancing to third on a throwing error which allowed Schaefer to score making it 9-9.
The seventh inning went scoreless for both team as the game headed to extra innings.
In the eighth Utah Valley walked things off 10-9 as Mya Higareda singled to right field scoring the winning run in Angelique Mann.
Alexa Rehmeier got the start in the circle and went 1.2 innings giving up six runs on five hits and walked two.
Makenzie Dunbar went 1.1 innings giving up two runs on four hits and walked one.
Kendall Daniel (2-3) went the final 4.0 innings and took the loss after giving up two runs on six hits, striking out two and walking one.
For Utah Valley, Avery Sapp got the start going 4.0 innings and gave up eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits, striking out one and walking three. Hallie Morris (4-5) took the win as she went the final 4.0 innings giving up one run on four hits, striking out one and walking one as well.

Game 2 was all UVU from the start as they scored seven runs over the first two innings taking an early 7-0 lead that was too much for the Texans to overcome.
Tarleton State scored two of their four runs in the top of the fourth as Trull hit a two-run home run to left field making it 7-2 Utah Valley. In the top of the fifth

Kalyn Hill as it was then 7-3 Wolverines.
Utah Valley scored their final two runs of the in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a two-run shot to right center making it 9-3.
The Texans fourth and final run came off the bat of junior
Kalyn Hill who homered to left field making it 9-4, the final for Game 2.
Hannah Blincoe (4-4) got the start but only went 0.2 innings and took the loss as she gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits and walked one.
Kynlee Marquez went the bulk of the game going 5.1 innings giving up five runs on nine hits and struck out one.
Jorja Barrett (2-1) picked up her second win of the season as she got the start for Utah Valley going 4.1 innings as she gave up three runs on three hits, striking out three and walking three as well. Morris finished out the final 2.2 innings giving up just one run on four hits and she struck out two.
The Texans will be back in action on Saturday for the final game of the series at 2 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ as well as live stats will be available.
