STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State will look to take care of the Abilene Christian Wildcats on Tuesday as they have won the last four matchups that have been played in Stephenville.
The I-20 rivalry will get underway with Game 1 at 4 p.m. followed by Game 2 at 6:30 p.m. The Texans have won the last six out of seven matchups and have outscored the Wildcats 42-31 over the seven games.
Two of the top-three spots for batting average in the WAC are held by
Kelci Hill (.446) of Tarleton State and Kaydee Bennett (.474) of Abilene Christian. The pair is also in the top-three for on base percentage with Bennett (.544) leading the WAC and
Kelci Hill (.475) in third.
Kelci Hill currently leads the WAC in hits with 50 and has the second most total bases with 74. She also leads the WAC in hits per game averaging 1.52 per game.
Katy Schaefer is in a three-way tie for most home runs in the WAC this season with seven. She is tied with Grand Canyon's Kristin Fifield and Utah Valley's Megan Gibbs. Schaefer also leads the WAC in RBIs per game averaging 1.14 per game.

Alexa Rehmeier is currently tied for most games started with 12. She is tied with Southern Utah's Madrigal Stefanie. Senior
Makenzie Dunbar has the second most relief appearances in the WAC with 13.
The all-time series between the two teams is currently tied 35-35. Tarleton State is 20-16 at home vs. the Wildcats while the Texans hold a 7-4 record over ACU with Cumpian at the helm.
The first meeting between the two teams was on March 7, 1997, and the Texans picked up their first home win over ACU 5-4 on April 16, 1999. The Purple and White went on to win the four-game series 3-1 winning Game 2 and 3 4-2 and 4-3 before dropping the final game 2-0.
The last time the two teams faced off, it saw Tarleton State take the series 2-1 winning Games 2 and 3 7-5, 14-5 after dropping Game 1 11-1 (5).
The last time the Texans were in action it saw Tarleton State earn a dominating win over UT Arlington 9-1(5) taking the series 2-1. Three Texans hit a combined four long balls on the weekend with three of them coming in back-to-back-to-back innings.
Two of the four home runs were hit by Schaefer who is currently third all-time in program history for home runs with 36. She is just five away from tying Arianna Rodriguez (41, 2010-13) for second all-time. She also has 168 RBI as she sits third all-time as well and is just 23 away from tying former Texan catcher Nyka Wood (191, 2015-18) for second all-time.
Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN+ as well as live stats will be available for both contests.
