STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State (16-28, 4-13 WAC) continues its homestand with two games on Tuesday when the Purple and White host the Tigers of Texas Southern (14-14, 8-7 SWAC) at the Tarleton State Softball Complex.
Things will get underway Tuesday afternoon with first pitch for Game 1 scheduled for 1 p.m. Game 2 will follow shortly after at 3:30 p.m.
The Texans are 3-0 over the Tigers and have outscored them 17-5. The first matchup came March 12, 2021, when the two teams met for a nuetral contest in Austin with the Purple and White taking the 2-0 win.
The last time the Tigers made their way to Stephenville in 2022, it marked their first time to the Cowboy Capital of the world. The Texans swept the doubleheader with 5-3, 10-2 (5) wins.
Last time the Texans were in action, they fell to the WAC-leading Lopes of Grand Canyon. Tarleton State dropped all three games of the series Friday-Saturday.
Individually for the Texans,
Kelci Hill has the most hits in the nation with 67. She is tied ninth in doubles in the nation with 16 this season. The senior outfielder has five triples, tied for ninth best in the nation. The California native is tied for 25th in total bases with 99.
Individually for the Tigers, Ja'Lynn Swiney leads the team in batting average with a .342 average and has an OPS of .816, third best on the team. Saniah Henderson leads the Tigers in hits this season with 25. Henderson also leads the team in long balls with three thus far this season. Karisma Garcia leads the team in RBI with 21.
