SEATTLE – After tossing their third run-rule shutout in week, Tarleton State (19-29, 5-14 WAC) is headed to the pacific northwest for a three-game series with Seattle U (19-26, 11-9 WAC) Friday-Saturday. This marks the final regular season road series for the Texans.
The series will get underway on Friday with a doubleheader. Game 1 is set for 5 p.m. CT with Game 2 following at 7:30 p.m CT. The rubber match of the series is scheduled for a 3 p.m. CT first pitch on Saturday.
The two teams are 3-3 all-time vs. each other, both with a 2-1 record when they are away from their home turf. The Texans have won the last two matchups 7-3, 12-4 (6), both in RedHawks' territory. The two teams have scored a combined 64 over the six matchups with a dead split down the middle 32-32.
Tarleton State won the first matchup 2-1 which was played in Stephenville on April 23, 2021. Seattle U then went on to win three straight (two road, one home) before the Texans took the last two matchups outscoring the Redhawks 19-7.
Individually for the Texans,
Kelci Hill is tied for third-most hits in the nation with 72. She is tied ninth in doubles in the nation with 17 this season. The senior outfielder has five triples, tied for 17th best in the nation. The California native is 37th in total bases with 105.
Schaefer continues to rewrite the history books of Tarleton State Softball in a trio of categories. She currently sits third all-time in home runs with 38 and is just three away from tying Arianna Rodriguez (41, 2010-13). The Sweeny, Texas, native, also sits third all-time in RBI with 184, just seven away from tying Nyka Wood (191, 2015-18). Schaefer is also sixth all-time in defensive assists with 329 sitting just one away from tying Jennifer Cervenka (330, 1996-99)
Individually for the Redhawks, Taylor fitch leads the team in batting average with a .400 average and has an OPS of 1.067, best on the team. Sydney Frankenburger leads the Redhawks in hits this season with 55. Fitch leads the team in long balls with six thus far this season. She also leads the team in RBI with 32.
