BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Tarleton State Cross Country wrapped up its 2025 regular season slate at the Arturo Barrios Invitational held at the Watts Cross Country Course.
The Texan men posted a 14
th place finish overall and were second among WAC programs. Tarleton State finished higher than three regionally ranked programs including New Mexico State, UT Arlington and UTEP. The Purple and White women finished in 32
nd overall, six places better than their finish a season ago.
Men
Jace Poole led the way for the men for the first time this season. Poole was the first Texan to cross finishing in 72
nd in 24:19.9. He was followed closely behind by
Kellen Frickel. Frickel had been running right with Poole throughout the majority of the race. He placed 85
th overall in 24:26.9.
Diego Flores and
Mez Barth were the next pair to finish recording back-to-back finishes to finish 99
th and 100
th overall. Flores crossed in 24:35.6 followed by Barth in 24:36.8.
The final scoring Texan was
Tyler Hedgepeth, the fifth to cross. Hedgepeth finished in 121
st crossing in 24:51.8.
Michael Lopez was the next Texan to finish, crossing in 24:57.9.
AJ Alfaro rounded out the men finishing in 27:17.3.
Texas Tech freshman Titus Kimaru took the individual title winning by over 15 seconds crossing in 22:36.1. Jacob Pyeatt claimed second in 22:52.9 running unattached after competing for Arkansas State last season. Middle Tennessee's Allen Kiplagat rounded out the podium in third in 22:56.0. Texas A&M won the team title scoring 51 points. Middle Tennessee was over 35 points behind followed by Stephen F. Austin who claimed third.
Women
Kaitlyn Gale was the first Texan woman to cross in 108
th, over 50 spots better than the top Texan a season ago. Gale finished in 21:55.5.
Victoria Guerrero used a fast close at the end to jump up a few places to claim 152
nd in 22:20.5.
Allie Brown finished third for the Purple and White in 24:38.6 to claim 263
rd.
Kaylee Gray was the next to cross finishing in 298
th in 26:54.2. Taylor Galbreath rounded out the Texans finishing in 30:49.6, her collegiate cross country debut.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Elizabeth Khatevi took the individual title in 18:56.1. Angelina Perez (Wake Forest) and Jadyn Keeler (North Dakota) rounded out the podium. Wake Forest edged LSU for the team title with 78 points followed by the Tigers with 88. Texas A&M finished third with 113.
The Texans will race their first meet of the postseason next, the WAC Cross Country Championships in Arlington, Texas on the morning of Friday, Oct. 31. The Halloween morning event is set to take place at the Harold Patterson Sports Complex. The Texans raced that course earlier this season with both the men and women competing in 5K's at the Gerald Richey Invitational.
