Homecoming is in the books at Tarleton State, but Tarleton State Athletics home events rage on, including a pair of Saturday contests in Stephenville. First, on Saturday at 1 p.m., Tarleton State Volleyball is hosting its annual Volloween match, with a Haunted Hall Trunk or Treat event pregame from 12-1 p.m. Later that day, Texan Men's Basketball its second and final exhibition game at the EECU Center at 6 p.m. against East Texas A&M.
TEXAN VOLLEYBALL has a chance at a season-long three-match winning streak on Saturday, with Tarleton State hosting California Baptist at 1 p.m. The Texans (4-2 WAC) are third in the WAC standings currently, just a match behind the leaders Utah Tech (5-1 WAC), with CBU tied-fourth at 2-4 in conference play. The Texans are fresh off of a come-from-behind win at Abilene Christian and a sweep of Southern Utah. Saturday will serve as Volloween, as the Texans will have the Wisdom Gym halls decorated for Halloween, encouraging any and all to participate in the Haunted Hall Trunk or Treat event from 12-1 p.m. The Texans will have a kids costumes contest, plus a Texan Halloween coloring activity.
TEXAN MEN'S BASKETBALL debuted the EECU Center this past Sunday with its first exhibition game against TCU, and this week has its second and final exhibition game on Saturday against East Texas A&M at 6 p.m. This game will be free admission, and free tickets can be claimed here. The game will not be broadcast on ESPN+, encouraging everyone to attend in-person. The Texans' rivalry with East Texas A&M, formerly known as Texas A&M-Commerce, dates way back, with 72 contests between the two all-time. The former Lone Star Conference rivals last squared off in 2019, a 94-91 win by Tarleton State at home. The Texans own a 37-35 advantage in the all-time series.
TEXAN SOCCER has a close road contest, as Tarleton State faces rival Abilene Christian on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Texans are in the thick of the WAC race for the WAC Tournament, with just three games remaining. The Texans and ACU are tied for fifth with five points apiece, two points behind Southern Utah at seven points. Just four teams make the WAC Tournament this year, with the semifinals matches scheduled for Nov. 5 in Abilene.
TEXAN FOOTBALL improved to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play by rolling No. 23 West Georgia in front of a record setting crowd on Homecoming this past Saturday night, 45-10. The Texans will play another Homecoming game, this time on the road at Eastern Kentucky on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT in Richmond at Roy Kidd Stadium. The Colonels have been the thorn in Tarleton State's side, with a 3-0 spot against the Texans, twice winning in Richmond. This time the No. 3 Texans will take on a 3-4 overall Colonels squad who just lost 35-14 at North Alabama, although EKU is a perfect 3-0 at home.
TEXAN WOMEN'S GOLF is back in the state of Kansas. The Texans will compete in their penultimate invitational of their fall slate at the Powercat Invitational hosted by Kansas State at the Colbert Hills Golf course on Monday and Tuesday. Tarleton State is the only WAC program to compete in the invitational and one of three squads selected for 2025 NCAA Regional Tournament last spring. The Texans join the Horizon League's automatic qualifier, Oakland and at-large selection Kansas State. Incarnate Word is the only other Texas school to compete, with 12 total states represented in the invitational. The Texans will be competing with the same five they sent they have sent to their last two events.
THE TODD WHITTEN SHOW will be back on Thursday at 12 p.m., live at Triple Crowd Ford, with free pizza provided by Cicis for all in attendance. Shows will commence every Thursday the rest of the season except for when Tarleton State Football has its final bye week in November. The Todd Whitten Show, presented by Triple Crown Ford, will broadcast live from 12-12:30 p.m. in the lobby of Triple Crown Ford, located at 2975 W. Washington St. in Stephenville.
