STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Softball just had its best season in its NCAA Division I era. On Friday, the Texans announced their 2026 slate, as they look to build on their momentum and make a repeat appearance in the WAC Tournament Championship.
Tarleton State has 56 regular season games on the docket, with 25 at home in Stephenville. This will be the fourth time in program history the Texans will play in 56-plus regular season games.

The Texans will open 2026 on the road in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, on Feb. 6, a tournament hosted by Gardner-Webb. There the Texans will play in five games against Gardner-Webb, Furman and Youngstown State between Feb. 6-8.
Tarleton State will host its annual Whataburger Invitational on Feb. 13-15, with three other teams in attendance; Colgate, South Dakota State and Stephen F. Austin. The Texans' home opener will be against the Ladyjacks on Feb. 13, and Tarleton State will play in five total games on the weekend.
That's the start of an 11-game homestand for the Texans as they host two tournaments. Their second tournament will feature four other teams from Feb. 19-22; Army, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Tulsa. Tarleton State will play in six total games that weekend at its Texan Classic.
Tarleton State will be on the road for tournaments the next two weekends. First the Texans are among the four teams competing at New Mexico's tournament in Albuquerque on Feb. 27-March 1, along with the host Lobos, Houston Christian and UTEP. Then, Tarleton State heads to San Marcos, Texas, for Texas State's tournament, featuring the Texans, Bobcats, Texas A&M and St. Francis on March 6-8.
On March 10, the Texans will play host to Texas Tech, who just made a national runner-up finish last season. The Red Raiders plowed through the Women's College World Series as a 12-seed, and narrowly fell in the championship series to Texas. That will be a single-game, 6 p.m. first pitch at the Tarleton State Softball Complex.
On March 13-15, Tarleton State will play in its final regular season tournament in both Greensboro and Elon, North Carolina. The Texans will face Elon, UNC-Greensboro and Lehigh in a five-game run.
On March 20-21, the Texans will host a three-game series against Rhode Island before taking on the Red Raiders again, this time for a game in Lubbock on March 24.
Conference play begins March 27, with Tarleton State on the road at UT Arlington for a three-game series. The Texans will host Abilene Christian for three games April 3-4, the start of a seven-game homestand that also includes a single game against North Texas on April 8 and a three-game series against Southern Utah April 10-11.
Tarleton State will play at Utah Valley next in Orem, Utah, for three games April 17-18, a single game at North Texas in Denton on April 22, before returning home for its final regular season games in Stephenville on the year. The Texans will take on Utah Tech for three games April 24-25, then play their final regular season series (three games) at California Baptist May 1-2.
Stephenville will play host to the 2026 WAC Softball Tournament for the first time. The Tarleton State Softball Complex will host six teams competing for the conference tournament title on May 6-9.
