Tarleton State Softball inks seven in Class of 2026 Signing Class

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Softball head coach Mark Cumpian announced the addition of his seven-player signing class of 2026 on Friday afternoon. 

The seven-player class features six prep players from Texas and one from Arizona. The class includes one pitcher, two infielders, a utility player, two outfielders, and one pitcher/infielder. The group will join the Texans in the fall of 2026. 

"I'm excited to bring in this signing class," said Cumpian. "This class is very versatile as many of them can play multiple positions which will give us the opportunity to move our lineup around and give our opponents different looks. This will continue to give us the depth we need over the next few years and add on to a roster that I feel like is very strong." 

Brooklyn Farmer is a right-handed pitcher hailing from Lampasas, Texas. She will graduate from Lampasas High School in the spring after her fourth season on the varsity squad under head coach Blakeli Brookreson. Farmer served as the team captain for her final two seasons of her prep career. As a freshman, she was awarded 2023 District 24-4A Newcomer of the Year. She was awarded the Lampasas Softball Defensive MVP as well. As a sophomore, she was tabbed First Team All-District. As a junior, she was named an All-District honorable mention selection. In each of her first three years, Farmer was tabbed to the All-District All-Academic Team. 

Farmer played for Buzz Fastpitch for four years. During her time with Buzz, she was a part of the 2023 USA National Champion squad. She was a previous teammate of Journey Denton, Addi Young, and Avery Barnard, all future Tarleton State Texans. She is the daughter of Jennifer Farner and has one sister, McKinley. At Tarleton State, Brooklyn plans to pursue a degree in kinesiology, with the intention of continuing towards physical therapy school. 

Raeley Sebek is a middle infielder from Huntington, Texas. She was a four-sport high school athlete playing four years of softball, basketball, volleyball, and cross country. She served as team captain in all but cross country. In softball, she was named Academic All-District as a sophomore and junior. Also, as a junior she was named the District Utility Player of the Year. She also was awarded numerous team awards across her first three seasons. 

In basketball, Sebek was named the Newcomer of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and team MVP as a freshman. During her junior season, she was tabbed First Team All-District. In cross country, she was an area qualifier as a freshman and regional qualifier as a junior. As a sophomore, Sebek was named Athlete of the Year. She was named First Team All-District as a sophomore and junior in volleyball. As a junior, she was also tabbed Third Team All-State. 

Sebek has played the last 11 years with six different programs over the summer. Most recently she spent the last year and a half with SCS. She is the daughter of Matthew and Amanda Sebek. She has five siblings, two brothers (Kade and Carsyn) and three sisters (Savannah, Maecie and Laela). Raeley intends to major in kinesiology. 

Journey Denton is an outfielder from Burnet, Texas. She will graduate from Burnet High School in the spring after her fourth season on varsity under head coach Jayci Craig. She served as a captain as a junior and will as a senior. In each of her first three seasons, she earned Academic All-District. She was also a First Team All-District Selection in each of her first three seasons. In addition, as a freshman she was named TGCA All-State, she was the District Utility Player of the Year as a junior. She was also team offensive MVP as a sophomore and a junior. 

Denton was a four-sport high school athlete. She lettered for three years on the basketball team and was a four-year letter winner in both volleyball and track and field. She served as captain of the volleyball team in her final two prep seasons. Denton holds the Burnet HS career digs school record. In volleyball, she was named First Team All-District as a sophomore, District MVP as a junior, and First Team All-District as a senior. She was a four-time Academic All-District selection and was named Academic All-State as a senior. In basketball, she was awarded the 6th Woman of the Year Award as a sophomore, and First Team All-District as a junior. Denton was also named Academic All-District in each of her first three seasons.  

Denton played for six years with Buzz Fastpitch along with current Texan signees Brooklyn Farmer, Addi Young, and Avery Barnard. She is the daughter of Chris and Sunya Denton and has one brother, Jaxson. Journey intends to major in nutrition science. She is a member of National Honor Society and ranks within the top 10 percent of her class. 

Addi Young is an infielder from Lott, Texas. She attends Bremond ISD and will graduate this spring. She has played the last four years of varsity softball. During her freshman year, Young was named the District Newcomer of the Year. As a sophomore, she was tabbed to the All-District First Team. Last season, she was named the District Offensive MVP.  

Young also spent two years playing varsity volleyball. She played eight years for Buzz Waller and is currently a member of the 18U squad and was also teammates with Brooklyn Farmer, Avery Barnard, and Journey Denton. She is the daughter of the Justin and Shanda Young and has one brother, Sutton. Addi intends to major in agricultural business. 

Lucy Sharon is a utility player from Cypress, Texas. She has spent the past three seasons on the Bridgeland High School Varsity Team. As a sophomore, she was named 16-6A All-District Honorable Mention. She followed it up as a junior, earning First Team All-District honors. She was also named Academic All-District as both a sophomore and a junior. Sharon was tabbed the #46 pitcher nationally in the class of 2026 signing class by Extra Innings Elite. 

Sharon played 14 years for Impact Gold National and is currently on the 18u Jazz squad. Lucy is the daughter of Mike and Noelle Sharon and intends to major in animal science at Tarleton State. 

Kodee Statler is a pitcher and infielder from Dewey, Arizona. Statler is the Texans' lone commit outside the state of Texas, where she attends Bradshaw Mountain High School. As a sophomore, she was named to the 4A Grand Canyon Region First Team. As a junior, she was named Region Offensive Player of the Year and earned the Conference Player of the Year. She was also tabbed to the All-Conference First Team. 

Statler played seven seasons for Rogue FC Kaye. She is the daughter of Walter and Lindsey Statler and has one brother, Bo. Kodee intends to major in animal science at Tarleton State. In each of her first three academic years in high school, she was named to the Principal's List. 

Avery Barnard is an outfielder from Leander, Texas. She played for four seasons at the varsity level for Leander High School. She was named to the District 25-5A First Team as a junior and is also a three-time Academic All-District selection. 

Barnard was summer teammates with Texan signees Brooklyn Farmer, Addi Young, and Journey Denton, playing 10 years for Buzz Gold. She is the daughter of Scott and Megan Barnard and has two brothers, Evan and Rhett. Avery intends to major in public health.  

The Class of 2026 will finish out their respective prep senior seasons before heading to Tarleton State next fall. The Texans will open their 2026 slate on the road at the Runnin' Bulldog Classic in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. The Texans will open the season on Friday, Feb. 6 at 9 a.m. against Youngstown State. They will play the Penguins twice, Furman twice, and the host Garner Webb once during the three-day event.
