STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Tennis continues its spring season this week with Texas State, UTSA, and Incarnate Word starting Friday.
The first is at Texas State on Friday at 11 a.m. The Texans will then travel to San Antonio for the weekend, taking on UTSA on Saturday and Incarnate Word on Sunday.
The Texans are heading into their next three matchups with a 4-1 record, with their only loss being too Big 12 opponent Houston 4-1 in their match. Tarleton State started the season with four wins in its first four matches for the second consecutive year.
Against Houston, Freshman
Maria Castano won her fifth singles match of the season by defeating Sophie Schouten in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. Castano remains undefeated in singles this year with a 5-0 record, becoming the first Tarleton State freshman in the Division I Era to win in each of her first five singles matches.
Tarleton State's most recent matchup against Texas State took place on September 8, 2024, in the Texans' fall debut. Junior
Ximena Morales defeated all of her singles opponents from McNeese, Stephen F. Austin, and Texas State. Senior

Emma Persson also went a perfect 3-0 in the doubles portion of the event. Morales continued her momentum against Texas State's Emily Niers, only dropping one game in set one and coming up with her first bagel of the fall season to move her fall singles record to 2-0.
Texas State is 5-2 so far in the 2025 season. Their last match on February 8 was a 5-2 victory over Texan rival Abilene Christian.
The last time Tarleton State faced UTSA was on March 9, 2024, when the Texans won 4-3. Lorca and Persson came back to win 6-4 over Aleksandra Zlatarova and Vittoria Baccino on Court 3 to help the Texans obtain a crucial doubles point. Tarleton State and UTSA each took three singles matches, which was all the Texans needed for the team victory. UTSA remains unbeaten in the 2025 season with a 10-0 record. Their last match took place on February 10 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, resulting in a 4-1 victory for UTSA.
Tarleton State's last matchup against Incarnate Word took place on March 29, 2013, and resulted in a 7-2 victory for the Texans. Incarnate Word is currently 0-3, with their most recent match against Abilene Christian resulting in a 6-1 loss.
Live scoring will be available for all matches. Saturday and Sunday's matches will be available to watch. Saturday's match at UTSA will be available to watch on Sporfie while Sunday's is on WAC International.
