SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Following a 7-2 victory of Prairie View A&M on Tuesday to secure win No. 30 of the season, Tarleton State heads back on the road for a midweek matchup with the Roadrunners of UTSA Wednesday.
In the last 20 games the Texans have outscored their opponents 108-49 averaging over five runs per game. Across the 20 matchups, Tarleton State has scored five or more runs 10 different times.
Through just over 11 weeks of play, the Texans have multiple athletes leaving their mark nationally. Austin German currently sits second in the nation in doubles with 19 on the season and leads the WAC. With her 19 doubles through 43 games, she ranks fourth in doubles per game in the nation. With all the offensive power from Germain, she is the ninth toughest to strike out in the nation as she strikes out just once every 45.7 plate appearances. Germain sits 34th in the nation in batting average hitting .445 and sits No. 3 in the WAC.
Other Texans top in the nation include
Kalyn Hill who has caught 16 base runners stealing which puts her seventh in the nation and leads all of the WAC. Hill also sits 75th in the nation in batting average hitting .420 and is fourth in the WAC.
On the pitching side of things,
Shelby Schultz continues to pound the strike zone as she sits 27th in the nation in strikeouts with 141 thus far and leads the WAC. She also ranks 26th in strikeouts per seven innings at 8.7 and leads WAC. Schultz also sits 19th in the nation in strikeout-to-walk ratio.
In the WAC, the Purple and White continue to hold two of the top-four spots in batting average as Germain leads the Texans ranking third in the conference hitting .445 while Hill sits fourth hitting .420. As a team, Tarleton State is in the top-three of 21 different statistical categories in the WAC. The Texans lead the WAC in team strikeouts per seven innings (6.72) and walks (170).
First pitch on Wednesday is set for 6 p.m. as the midweek action is set to air live on ESPN+. Live Stats are available for the game as well as tickets for the supporters of the Purple and White.
Following the Texans midweek matchup on Wednesday at UTSA, the Purple and White will take a flight to the northeast for a three-game non-con series with Providence to close out the Texans conference bye-week.
