WACO, Texas – Tarleton State will compete against Texas' top talent in Waco this week for the ITA Texas Regional Championship Oct. 8-12 at the Hurd Tennis Center.

Coming off the Fordham Four Invite in the Bronx, New York, Marissa Minetti went undefeated in singles. Freshmen Anna Huisgen Aruzhan Nuranbay got two singles wins in the event as well.

Tarleton State's record for the fall slate so far is 49-31, with Huisgen having a standout 6-2 record in both singles and doubles to lead the team. Nuria Lafitte-Valls is the doubles standout for the season with a 7-1 record.

Last season, the Texans set program records at the ITA Regional tournament with four players qualifying for the singles main draw. Maria Castano, alongside Emma Persson, helped lead the Texans to their opening main draw matches and advance to the round of 32 for singles.

Tarleton State found success last year, going beyond the ITA Regional Tournament. Castano qualified to go to the ITA Conference Masters Championship in singles as well as in doubles with partner Aya Ishii. In doubles, Castano and Ishii advanced to the round of 16. The duo made program history by being the first to represent Tarleton State in both singles and doubles at the ITA Conference Masters Championship.

Following the tournament, the team will travel to the first-ever UAC Fall Individual Championship beginning Oct. 23 in Clarksville, Tennessee.
