Tarleton State Tennis looks to extend winning streak with Texas State, Incarnate Word matchups this weekend

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Tennis continues its extended homestand on Saturday and Sunday as the Texans welcome Texas State and Incarnate Word to the Tarleton State Tennis Facility.

The matchups mark another key test during Tarleton State's eight-match home stretch, with the Texans riding a four-match winning streak and looking to measure themselves against a seasoned Sun Belt opponent.

Tarleton State enters the contest coming off an impressive weekend sweep, picking up victories over Oral Roberts, Collin County Community College and McNeese. The Texans delivered consistent performances across the lineup, showing strength in both singles and doubles play. Tarleton State claimed the doubles point in two of the three matches, setting the tone early and carrying momentum into singles competition.

Several Texans stood out individually during the weekend. Freshman Aya Ishii put together a perfect 3-0 record in singles play, displaying poise and control in each of her matches. Ishii also teamed up with Marissa Minetti in doubles, where the pair went undefeated at 3-0 and proved to be a reliable anchor at the top of the lineup. Ishii (Singles and Doubles) and Minetti (Doubles) earned WAC Player of the Week honors for their efforts. Senior Ximena Morales was equally dominant, sweeping all three of her singles matches and playing a key role in securing the Texans' trio of wins.

Texas State arrives in Stephenville with an experienced roster and will provide a strong challenge as Tarleton State looks to extend its winning streak. The Bobcats' depth and match-tested lineup will push the Texans in every position, making consistency and execution critical throughout the day.

Tarleton State and Texas State have met four times previously, with the Bobcats holding a narrow 3-1 advantage in the all-time series. The Texans have been competitive in each matchup, including the most recent meeting, where Tarleton State secured the doubles point before ultimately falling in the match. That performance highlighted Tarleton State's ability to challenge Texas State early and set the tone, a factor that could once again play a key role in Saturday's contest.

The Texans will also face Incarnate Word, carrying a two-match win streak against the Cardinals and a 6–3 advantage in the all-time series. The matchup provides another opportunity for Tarleton State to test its depth, with strong doubles performances and consistent singles play expected to be decisive factors. Maintaining focus from the first point through the last will be key as the Texans aim to extend their streak and continue building momentum during the homestand.

Tarleton State has shown competitiveness from top to bottom this season, highlighted by aggressive doubles play and steady singles performances. Securing the doubles point will once again be a focal point as the Texans aim to gain an early advantage and control the momentum of the match.

This weekend's matchup offers Tarleton State another opportunity to build confidence at home while continuing to grow against high-level competition.
