Texans fall to Army in no-hitter on Saturday

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Softball fell 10-0 in five innings in a no-hitter to Army in Saturday's Texan Classic nightcap.

The Black Knights (5-8) threw two no-hitters on the same day at the Texan Classic, also no-hitting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi earlier Saturday. The Texans (10-5) have lost five of their last six games after a 9-0 start to their 2026 campaign.

The Black Knights took control early on Saturday, posting five runs in the opening inning. Sienna Tepley singled to left center, then came home on a triple by Taylor Brown. Brown was right behind her, scoring a second run on a double by Ashton White. A Texan error ultimately led to White returning home. Shortly after, Sam Rodgers singled to center field, scoring Micaela Garcia and Caitlyn Newburn and extending the lead to 5-0.

In the top of the third, a single, a walk, and a reach on a fielder's choice set up a three-run single for Tepley. Brown followed with another single to bring the score to 9-0.

Army closed it out in the fifth inning with an RBI single by Hannah Laub to left field.

Tarleton State used three pitchers in the circle. Alex Aguilar (0-2) took the loss after allowing five runs on six hits in two-thirds of an inning in the start. Jaelynn Duke settled things in relief, tossing 2.0 innings and giving up four runs (two earned), before Sadie Beck closed out the final 2.1 innings, surrendering one run on three hits and striking out two.

Offensively, the Texans were limited to three walks and did not record a hit, with Hayden Fox, Isabella Bojkovic and Addison Wittram each reaching base via walk. Tarleton State struck out seven times and left four runners on base in the five-inning setback.

Army's Breanna Izzo earned the no-hitter, allowing no runs and no hits, with three walks and seven strikeouts in five innings, as she improved to 4-2.

The Texans look to close out the final day of the Texan Classic on Sunday with a bout against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 12 p.m.
