MONROE, La. – Tarleton State posted one of its best wins of the season on Saturday to highlight its trip to Monroe, Louisiana, defeating Stephen F. Austin 4-1.
The Texans (4-8) went 1-2 on the weekend at the ULM Bayou Bash, hosted by the Warhawks. In Tarleton State's single match on Friday, the Texans lost to undefeated Missouri State (11-0) 4-1. On Saturday, the Texans beat SFA (4-6) 4-1 before falling in a tight match at the host ULM (3-8) 3-2.
In the win on Saturday, Tarleton State got victories on Courts 1, 2, 4 and 5.
Hayden Huber and
Bella Parayno defeated Brynn Dowd and Savannah Johnson on Court 1 21-17, 21-19.
Allison Bryant and
Candace Ceballos defeated Kylan McCoy and Reese Rich 21-19, 21-11 on Court 2. On Court 4,
Salome Galvez Lira and
Taylor Orris defeated Sophia Myers and Gilardi Parra de So 19-21, 21-12, 15-12. Then on Court 5,
Angelina Linke and
Sofia Bendele defeated Mikaela Dioso-Lopez and Gianna Reamer 21-15, 21-18. The Ladyjacks earned their lone victory on Court 3, with Annabella Howerton and Gabrie Damborowiski defeating
Emily Vickers and
Christian Mitchell 16-21, 23-21, 15-12.
Bryant and Ceballos led the Texans on the weekend with a perfect 3-0 mark. They beat Missouri State's MacKenzie Steele and Amanda Cleary 21-16, 25-27, 15-13 for the Texans' lone point in Friday's match. They then won another three-set affair against ULM.
Vickers and
Camilla Chun paired up together for Tarleton State's other win on Saturday on Court 3.
Tarleton State will rematch against Missouri State next weekend, the Texans' first match at the Arizona Invitational in Tucson, Arizona, on Friday at 9 a.m. CT. Tarleton State will also play Arizona on Friday at 11:30 a.m. CT, San Francisco on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. CT, and UTEP on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. CT.
