LAKE CHARLES, La. – Tarleton State Beach Volleyball dropped a pair of close matches in Lake Charles, Louisiana, falling 3-2 at McNeese and 4-1 against Southeastern Louisiana at the Sandy Poke Invitational.
The Texans (5-13) played in five three-set matches across the 10 total matches on Saturday at the event hosted by McNeese, four against the Cowgirls.
Tarleton State and McNeese (16-4) split the four three-set matches and the Cowgirls secured the two-set match on Court 5 to lock the win. McNeese's wins came on Courts 1, 2 and 5, with McKenzie Moore and Kendall Osgood defeating
Allison Bryant and
Candace Ceballos 13-21 21-15 15-12, Rylee Lansing and Victoria Simmang defeating
Camilla Chun and
Emily Vickers 17-21 21-17 15-12, and McKenna Malone and Isabella Giarla defeating
Angelina Linke and
Sofia Bendele 21-17 21-12. Tarleton State got wins on Courts 3 and 4, with
Bella Parayno and
Christian Mitchell defeating Bethanie Durant and Reese Russell 21-19 18-21 15-13, and
Salome Galvez Lira and
Taylor Orris defeating Breanna Cagle and Gracie Behneke 17-21 21-14 15-11.
In the second match against Southeastern Louisiana (10-10), Tarleton State won the lone three-set match on Court 2, as Chun and Vickers defeated Ally Alfonso and Carley Petty 15-21 22-20 18-16.
Tarleton State will play its final road matches of the regular season this upcoming weekend in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Texans will face ULM on Friday at 9 a.m., Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday at 1 p.m., Pepperdine on Saturday at 8 a.m. and Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday at 12 p.m.
