TYLER, Texas – Tarleton State Tennis returns to the road on Wednesday, traveling to Tyler Junior College for a 3 p.m. contest at the Murphy Tennis Center.
The Texans enter the weekend looking to build momentum as the spring season continues, with several players contributing key performances in recent matches as well as multiple Texans winning awards this week.
Sophomore Maria Castano was named WAC Singles Player of the Week for the first time in 2026, picking up her second career singles weekly award from the WAC. Castano did not lose a set en route to leading the Texans to a pair of 7-0 wins over Montana and at Utah Tech on Saturday. She won her seventh singles match on Saturday, winning her third in a row.
Tarleton State also earned recognition in doubles, as freshmen
Marissa Minetti and
Aya Ishii were named WAC Doubles Team of the Week. Both have been a key part of the Texans' doubles lineup and have picked up 12 wins together this spring.
The Texans are coming off wins against Montana and Utah Tech last weekend. Tarleton State swept both Montana and Utah Tech last weekend winning 7-0 against both teams.
Tyler Junior College enters the weekend coming off a loss from Hawai'i Hilo last weekend. The Texans have won last three meetings against TJC. Their last meeting, the Texans won 7-0.
