SAN MARCOS, Texas – Tarleton State Softball heads into its next challenge this week as the Texans compete in the San Marcos Showdown, hosted by Texas State at Bobcat Softball Stadium.
After wrapping up competitive play at the UNM Invitational this past weekend, the Texans are focused on continuing their strong start to the spring slate.
The tournament field includes the Texas A&M Aggies, Saint Francis Red Flash, and tournament host Texas State Bobcats.
Tarleton State opens the tournament Thursday against Saint Francis (1 p.m.) before taking on host Texas State later that afternoon (4 p.m.). This will mark TSU's first face off against Saint Francis in program history and the second matchup against Texas State. The Texans lost to the Bobcats 8-0 in their last game in San Marcos in March 2021.
Action will continue with more two games on Friday. First, the Purple and White will take on No. 15 Texas A&M for the third time in program history after previously falling to the Aggies twice in 2023. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. followed by a second game against Texas State at 1:30 p.m.
Tickets for the San Marcos Showdown are available at https://txstatebobcats.evenue.net/events/SB. Friday's game against Texas State will be streamed on ESPN+.
