Tulsa edges Tarleton State Tennis in Sunday dual

TULSA, Okla. – Tarleton State Tennis was defeated by Tulsa 4-2 on Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Freshman Aya Ishii highlighted Tarleton State's performance on Sunday, winning both her matches in singles and doubles. Her 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles gave her 10 singles wins this season, becoming the fifth Tarleton State freshman in the Division I era to produce double-digit singles victories. Ishii's 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles with fellow freshman Marissa Minetti gave the duo their seventh doubles win of 2026.

After Ishii and Minetti's doubles victory, seniors Ximena Morales and Emma Persson came up with their second victory of the weekend with a 6-2 decision at No. 2 doubles to give the Texans the team point. Morales picked up her fifth doubles win of the season while Persson came up with her sixth of 2026.

Tulsa answered with wins at No. 1 and No. 6 singles to take the lead, but Ishii's victory tied the score. The Golden Hurricane responded at No. 3 singles to take a 3-2 lead, clinching the match at No. 4 singles in the third set tiebreak.

Tarleton State will face its first WAC opponent in 2026 next weekend. The Texans make a short trip to Arlington to face UTA on Friday at 11 a.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
