STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Beach Volleyball will be home for four matches this week, set to host Howard Payne in a doubleheader Thursday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., then host Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday at 10 a.m. and East Texas Baptist on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
The Texans (6-16) have played at home twice this year, defeating Concordia 5-0 in both matches in a doubleheader on Feb. 25. These will mark the fifth-eighth home matches in program history, with the Texans going 0-2 in Stephenville in their inaugural season in 2024.
On Thursday, the Texans will battle Howard Payne, who is 2-16 this season, with its two wins against Schreiner. Tarleton State has not faced Howard Payne before.
On Friday at 10 a.m., the Texans will rematch against UMHB, who defeated the Purple and White 4-1 on March 6 in Belton, Texas. The all-time series is split 1-1, with Tarleton State winning 4-1 against UMHB in Kingsville, Texas, last year. During this match on Friday, the Texans will be giving away free Texans Are Here water bottles, while supplies last.
On Friday at 3:30 p.m., Tarleton State will celebrate Senior Day, and recognize its two seniors before the match,
Allison Bryant and
Jayda Harris-Amete. East Texas Baptist is sitting at 11-13 overall on the year, and they have yet to match up with the Texans.
With Tarleton State's first win across the four matches, the Texans will set a new single-season record for overall wins in their third year of existence.
Bryant and
Candace Ceballos are coming off of a 3-1 weekend on the top court, and now have the most wins and the best winning percentage on the team, going 11-11 together.
Hayden Huber and
Bella Parayno have the tied-second most wins (7-9) on the team, along with
Sofia Bendele and
Angelina Linke (7-12).
All four matches Thursday-Friday at the Tarleton State Beach Volleyball Courts in Stephenville will be free for fans to attend.
