WEEK AT A GLANCE: Texan Track and Field, Baseball compete at NCAA Regionals

Tarleton State Track and Field and Texan Baseball are both competing at NCAA Regionals this week, both with a chance to keep a pair of historic seasons going. Also, Tarleton State Athletics' 35th Annual Perry Elliott Plowboy Shootout will be in Glen Rose, Texas, on Friday.

TEXAN TRACK AND FIELD will feature an NCAA Division I program record 15 total athletes to the NCAA West First Rounds beginning on Wednesday at John McDonnell Field. For the second straight year, the Texans are sending double-digit athletes to the NCAA West First Rounds. This year, the Texans are tied with Utah Valley with 13 individual qualifiers, tied for the most in the WAC. Last year in the Texans first year of eligibility for the NCAA postseason, the squad sent 11 athletes with seven punching their tickets to Oregon. The men will compete on Wednesday and Friday and the women will compete on Thursday and Saturday. All of the track events on Wednesday and Thursday will be prelims other than the men's and women's 10K. In the track sprint events, the 48 athletes will be broken into six heats of eight. The top three in each heat and then the next best three will advance to the next round on their next day of competition. In the quarterfinals, the remaining 24 will be broken into three heats of eight with the top three in each heat and the next best three times advancing to Oregon. In the field events, it will only have one day of competition. In the long jump and hammer throw each athlete in the field of 48 will be given three attempts with the top 12 punching their tickets to Oregon. In the high jump, the top 12 clearances will earn a bid to the NCAA Championships.

TEXAN BASEBALL will return to Austin, Texas, for the Austin Regional with No. 6 overall seed Texas along with UC Santa Barbara and Holy Cross in the 2026 NCAA Baseball Tournament. The Texans, No. 3 seed in the Austin Regional, will face No. 2 seed UCSB on Friday at 5 p.m. CT at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in their first-ever Division I NCAA Tournament game. Friday's game will be available to watch on ESPN+. Tarleton State Baseball has announced its tailgate, ticket and game information for its first NCAA Division I postseason appearance. Tarleton State will be hosting a fan tailgate before the Texans' first game on Friday, scheduled from 2-4 p.m. The tailgate will be just beyond the left field wall at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. Limited drinks will be provided, plus food catered by Smokey Moe's BBQ while supplies last. Fans can also bring their own food and beverages. All Tarleton State fans are invited to get together at the tailgate and don purple. Future game tailgate information will be announced following the conclusion of Tarleton State's first game. There will be a minimum of six games at the NCAA Regional, with a maximum of seven games. The schedule is:

TARLETON STATE ATHLETICS annual summer fundraiser will help close the 2025-26 athletics season, set for Friday. The 35th Annual Perry Elliott Plowboy Shootout, sponsored by First Financial Bank, will be at Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose, Texas. There will be a single tee time for all golfers due to there being multiple courses at Squaw Valley Golf Course. The shotgun start will be at 9 a.m. Check-in and breakfast starts at 8 a.m. and lunch will be served after the round. Like always, snacks and beverages will be provided throughout the scramble. For the second straight year, there will be a live auction after the round, with great prizes available for bid. Players will have a chance to win prizes throughout the day, as prizes go to the three best team scores, closest to the pin, alternating shot and tiger shot. There will also be prizes for raffle ticket purchasers.

TICKETS are available for all of the upcoming home events online at TarletonSports.com/tickets. The Tarleton State Ticket Office is located on the west side entrance of Memorial Stadium.
