Tarleton State Athletics' regular season action begins this week, as Texan Women's Soccer plays its season opener. Also, Tarleton State Volleyball will play in its first exhibition action of the year on Saturday.
TEXAN SOCCER
Texan Soccer will hit the road once again this week for their first regular season match of the year against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Corpus Christi. Following the match, the Texans will return to Stephenville for their home opener against UTEP on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. The Texans will host a "Back 2 School Bash" during the match to celebrate the start of the Fall 2026 semester. Free food and drinks will be provided pregame for early arriving fans. There will also be a tailgate party atmosphere with a DJ and games like water pong, giant tic-tac-toe and cornhole.
TEXAN VOLLEYBALL
Texan Volleyball begins their 2026 season on the road in San Marcos at Texas State to take on the Bobcats in their first exhibition match of the season. Head coach Jazmyne Johnson is entering her second season in 2026, and the program's turnaround has been immediate under her guidance. After winning seven matches in the year prior to her arrival, the Texans improved by nine wins to finish in the top three in the Western Athletic Conference standings in 2025. The No. 3 seed Texans followed suit with their first-ever Division I postseason tournament win in the WAC Tournament, winning a five-set thriller over California Baptist to advance to the conference tournament semifinals. Following their road match at Texas State, the Texans will return to Stephenville for their first home match of the season to take on Dallas Baptist for their second exhibition match of 2026. For the first time ever, the match versus Dallas Baptist will combine the annual Volleyball Block Party with an actual match. Fans will experience a "Glow Party" atmosphere, as Wisdom Gym will be transformed into a rave-like environment during pre-game, as well as during mid-match breaks. There will be a live DJ playing during pre-game and mid-match breaks, and each break will have a special activity or fan engagement game that will fit with the glow party atmosphere/rave-like environment. Glow party items such as glow sticks, necklaces, glasses and other items will be given away to early arriving fans to help add to the environment. Fans will be encouraged to wear bright or neon colors to add to the glow effect under the black lights that will be set up during the match.
TICKETS are available for all of the upcoming home events online at TarletonSports.com/tickets. The Tarleton State Ticket Office is located on the west side entrance of Memorial Stadium. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. All admission to soccer, tennis, beach volleyball, golf and track and field events are free.
