Tarleton Athletics Hall of Fame Information
Purpose
The Athletic Hall of Fame honors those individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to Tarleton State University Athletics. These individuals will have performed at a level distinctly and significantly higher than that of their teammates or associates. Their performance will have brought honor and distinction to Tarleton State University. Induction reflects the University’s appreciation of these outstanding athletic achievements and their commitment to excellence in a competitive environment.
Nominating Committee
The Athletic Hall of Fame Nominating Committee consists of nine (9) individuals appointed by the President of Tarleton State University (three Athletic Hall of Fame members, three Tarleton alumni or former Tarleton athletic coaches, and three members at large). In addition, the Director of Athletics, the Director of Alumni Relations, the Chair of the Athletic Council, and the Sports Information Director will serve in a non-voting, ex-officio capacity. The voting members will serve three-year terms with one member from each category rotating off the committee each year. (Prior members may be reappointed after three years absence from the committee.) The President will appoint the chairperson of the nominating committee.
Eligibility for Nomination
Student-athlete nominees must meet the following criteria:
1.   A nominee becomes eligible five years after the last season of athletic participation at Tarleton;
2.   The nominee must have participated for a minimum of two years at Tarleton;
3.   The nominee is not required to be a graduate from Tarleton;
4.   The nominee’s athletic performance record must be exceptional and noteworthy; and
5.   The nominee shall have demonstrated strength of character which brought honor and distinction to Tarleton State University.
Individuals other than student-athletes may be nominated. These individuals must have made a significant and sustained contribution to the Tarleton State University athletic program. Current coaches of Tarleton State University are not eligible for consideration.
Exceptions to any of the eligibility criteria described above require unanimous vote of the nominating committee and approval of the President.
Nominating Procedure
Names may be placed in nomination by completing the Hall of Fame nomination form located in the Hall of Fame section of our website at www.tarletonsports.com. If you do not have access to the internet, please contact Terri Hardcastle at 254-968-0551 and she will send you the form.
Nominations must be received by May 1 each year. The nominating committee will research all nominations thoroughly.
Selection of Members
After careful consideration of all nominees, the nominating committee will make recommendations to the President by July 15 each year. Recommendations will be by secret ballot and will require a three-fourths majority vote. No more than six (6) individuals shall be recommended for induction each year. The President will make the final selections by August 1 each year.
