Tarleton State University Athletics

Carney joins the Texans from Western Carolina, where he played the last four years. Last year he played in 11 of the team’s 12 games with 10 starts along the offensive line, helping the offense finish with a school-record 5,920 total yards, including 4,268 passing yards and 1,652 yards on the ground. He was selected All-SoCon Third Team by Phil Steele.
 
Altogether at Western Carolina, Carney played in 18 games.
 
He played his prep football at Christ Presbyterian Academy, where he was a two-time First Team All-State and All-Region selection. He helped his high school to two state championships as a freshman and junior, and twice a state runner-up finish. Carney only allowed one sack as a sophomore and did not allow a sack as a junior. He also played baseball, where he was the closer, and participated in track and field.
 
Carney, a Nashville native, will major in marketing at Tarleton State University.
