In his collegiate debut vs. No. 5 Central Oklahoma on Aug. 30, Cabello punted six times for 231 yards, a season-high in both categories. His longest punt rolled down for 64 yards and was one of three punts that pinned the Bronchos inside their own 20-yard line. He had two 50-plus yard punts (52 yards, 53 yards) in the same game for the first time in his career to help UTPB earn its first playoff win in program history over Colorado State Pueblo on Nov. 22.

Cabello played his prep football at Moe and Gene Johnson High School, where he was a two-time All-District (one First Team, one Second Team) punter. He was also selected First Team Preseason Central Texas, posting a 40.2 yard punting average. Cabello also played soccer in high school.
