Biography

Freeman played last season at Kilgore College, recording 3.5 sacks, five tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, a pass breakup and 25 total tackles in 10 games. One of his best games came against Cisco College on Sept. 28, where he tallied a pair of sacks, adding a forced fumble and a tied-season-high five tackles.
 
“Matt Freeman, a strong edge player, a standout guy at the junior college level,” Whitten said. “We think he’ll be really impactful for us.”
 
Freeman is a DeSoto, Texas, native. He played three varsity years at Trinity Christian Cedar Hill High School in Cedar Hill, Texas. He will major in criminal justice at Tarleton State University.
